Over Complicating Christianity (as a teen)
There are millions of youths around the world, millions of voices to spread God's word and His love but only thousands being used. This is because many teens are plagued by the thought that they are not capable or effective enough to spread God's word to the people of the world.
This is a thought that is growing in some of the younger generations and it's a thought that must be destroyed because it is very damaging.
And that's were our problem starts. Many teens are simply Over Complicating Christianity.
One of the reasons for this maybe that we feel that our prayer is lacking and if this may be the case I have a few tips from
a youth pastor to help you on your christian journey.
1. You should start to read your bible and pray every day to make your prayer more frequent and allocating a certain time to pray will also help. In addition to this, try to create a prayer corner or room etc.
2. While you are doing this increase The amount of devotion/ prayer time you do, you could do this by thinking more about all the things God has done for you and the people you know and give thanks. You can also identify personal problems and problems of the world that your prayer will help to overcome. Remember to open your mind to all the little things you take for granted that are in fact a blessing from God such as waking up or even brushing your teeth.
N.b You can not do anything alone you will always need the Lord by your side.
I'm not trying to say that short sweet prayers are bad because they are not , as long as they come from the heart , long prayers that don't come from the heart are not really prayers at all. However growing as a christian may lead you to naturally praying for longer. (There are two types of christians, baby christians and adult christians)
You shouldn't shout your prayers to show off especially since prayer is a private thing between you and God. As the word of God says in @Matthew-6:5
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full."
Another reason could be that we sometimes underestimate our own faith.
The word of God states in @Mathew-17:20
"Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, ifyou have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
I'm not saying that as a teen you should settle with a mustard seed faith for the rest of your life because as a christian it will be natural for you to want to increase your faith and develop a better relationship with God. Doubting yourself and the maybe mustard seed faith that you have will never help you or the people in life that you are trying to save/help. It may also create a stagnant point in the relationship between you and God.
If little faith can move mountains then it will surely open the hearts of the unbelievers.
