God save Us
Fear, anxiety, hate and a deep sentiment of great uncertainty has taken place and dominates with societies globally. Terrorism is usually understood as the use or threat of violence to further a political or religious cause. The threat of terrorism has become a worldwide concern with several parts of the world reeling under frequent terrorist strikes e.g. France. Though acts of terrorism across the globe has increased in recent decades, in most parts of the world it continues to be a relatively rare event.
The 20th century has witnessed great changes in the use and practise of terror. Political movements have shifted from extreme right to the extreme left of the spectrum which has resulted in terrorism. The availability of automatic weapons and electrical explosives have given terrorists a new lethality. In regard to how terror attacks are enacted, armed attacks and bombing are the methods for terrorists worldwide.. These attacks cause a wide felt destruction. However, groups such as the Islamic State have used the method of kidnapping as an additional source in order to incision fear.
Terrors attacks install a great amount of fear into the general public and may even cause certain individuals to migrate in order for safety. More than a million migrants and refugees have travelled from their countries to Europe in order to resettle and get away from violence which is taking place in the origin country. The International Organisation for Migration estimates that more than 1,011,700 migrants arrived by seas and almost 34,900 by land. Such statistics support the fact that terrorism is major crisis which is affecting everyone as some of the people who are migrating are children with no parents.
The UK has been rocked by 4 terror attacks in 2017, with the most recent attack taking place at Parson Green tube station in September 2017. Despite these attacks, only a few people have been killed by terrorist attacks compared the hundreds killed in other countries – with 49 people dying because of terrorism in the UK between 2010 and 2017. Although the UK death due to terrorism are only a few, many still live in fear that a terror attack could strike again. Despite the public concern, the terror threat in Europe is relatively and is one of the safest areas in the world , hence why majority of migrants and refugees are moving to places like Italy and Germany.
Our world events have been labelled ‘terrorism’ but we are children of God and we are assured that because He is with us, we do not have to be afraid. To be afraid means that we have chosen a mindset that is empty of God.
Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. @Isaiah-41:10
How do we choose to live unafraid? How can we still have the faith if any day could be our last? It is important that we make the choice to divert our thoughts to God through prayer.
So, letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. @Romans -8:6
In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. @Ephesians-6:16
Praying for those who have lost a loved one or have been in areas which have been affected by terrorism. Praying for children who have migrated to safety who have no parents that they feel God’s Love and comfort through this difficult time.
