A prayer of condolence
part 2 of 3 · A Prayer“I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word.”-
@Psalms-119:28
No one is ever prepared to deal with the loss of a loved one, especially when the loss is sudden and unexpected.
The husband who lost his wife and son in their home pool whiles he lay asleep upstairs, the lady who lost her entire family in a fire, the only surviving child in a road accident or the mother who never made it home after child birth to her kids. Without living your experience, I can only imagine the ripping pain of wishing you could turn back time for a different outcome. The helpless feeling of wishing and praying that things will return to the way they have always been. Praying that God will bring your loved one back to life.
Although we know death is inevitable, it doesn’t make it any less painful. The change it brings can be difficult for many to deal with particularly after the final farewell at the funeral when everyone returns to their daily routines and you are left alone with this silent void.
I am praying for you, praying for strength both mentally and physically to get out of bed to face another day. This can be difficult but by the grace of God, you have been given purpose and hope to face tomorrow and you will overcome the unwilling desire to get out again. God has a personal interest in the welfare of his children and He will ease your pain and anger.
“I call to You from the ends of the earth when my heart is without strength. Lead me to a rock that is high above me,”
@Psalms-61:2
“The LORD is near to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” - @Psalms-34:18
I encourage you with the footprints in the sand and assure you that you are never alone. God is watching over you, He is with you and He has sent you a comforter to support you through this period of grief. Your void will be filled and you joy will be restored.
Footprints in the sand
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him he looked back, at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it: "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you,
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
